Manuel Pellegrini: 'We need to score goals'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admits that his side need to score more goals after losing 2-1 to West Ham United.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that his side need to be more clinical in the future after losing 2-1 at home to West Ham United.

Goals from Victor Moses and Diafra Sahko gave the London club the win despite a reply from City's new signing Kevin de Bruyne, but Pellegrini feels that his side performed well in the second half.

Pellegrini is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "To win the game you must score and we did not score. I think we played very well in the second half, not as we did in the first half because we were not the aggressive team we needed to be at home.

"It is always difficult to play against every team in the Premier League, they are a good team and have very good players and we talked before that this would be a difficult game because it was not luck that they beat Liverpool and Arsenal before they came here.

"Maybe we deserved better luck today but we also need to be more accurate in the finishing."

The result ended Manchester City's unbeaten Premier League start but they remain at the top of the table.
