AWOL Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez makes an appearance at former international teammate Martin Palermo's testimonial in Argentina.

AWOL Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez was present at a testimonial match in Argentina for former international teammate Martin Palermo yesterday.

The wantaway forward has given no indication as to when he will return to England after failing to secure a move away from the Etihad in January.

He was quoted as saying he wanted to make an appearance for former club Boca Juniors at the Bombonera stadium but instead arrived on the field at half-time and waved to supporters.

The Buenos Aires fans responded by giving the 27-year-old a standing ovation and chanting: "Leave the English and come back here."

Boca president Daniel Angelici had earlier said that the club would happily bring Tevez into their squad.

"If Tevez arrives for free then we would be happy to have him," Angelici told Todo Noticias. "If Manchester City call us and say that they need him to play games, our doors are always open."

The forward was however recently named in City's 23-man squad for the second half of the Premier League season and Roberto Mancini said that Tevez could make a return to his side.
