Erling Braut Haaland will be announced as a Manchester City player this week after passing his medical, according to a report.

The 21-year-old, who is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, is arguably the most sought-after striker in Europe, with the Citizens believed to be leading the race for his signature.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Haaland is currently in Dortmund where he passed his medical on Monday and an official announcement of his move to the Etihad Stadium will be made this week.

Romano adds that Man City have informed Dortmund that they will activate the striker's release clause in 'the next few hours' which is valued at around €60m (£51.4m) rather than the previously reported €75m (£64.2m).

Haaland is understood to have pushed for the move to be finalised this week as he wished to say farewell to the Dortmund supporters before the end of this season.

Romano has also added that Haaland has agreed to put pen to paper on a five-year contract and will earn no more than City's highest earner Kevin De Bruyne, who is currently pocketing around £375,000 per week.

Haaland, who has also been linked with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, has been in sensational goalscoring form since joining BVB from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020, scoring 85 times in 88 appearances across all competitions.
