Manchester City are reportedly in talks with River Plate over the sale of Argentinian forward Nahuel Bustos this month.

Manchester City are reportedly in talks with River Plate over the sale of Argentinian forward Nahuel Bustos this month.

The 23-year-old moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2020 and was then immediately sent out on loan to sister club Girona, who are owned by City Football Group.

However, after scoring just eight goals in 60 appearances for the Spanish outfit, Bustos is yet to have convinced City's hierarchy that he can break into the first team, which is believed to have alerted River Plate.

According to Argentinian news outlet La Pagina Millonaria, 'concrete negotiations' between both clubs are set to take place in the coming days regarding his departure from the Premier League leaders.

At this stage, only informal talks have been held between City and River Plate, but an agreement for the sale of Bustos is expected to be reached this month, with Girona also prepared to cut the striker's loan deal short.

Prior to his move to Man City, Bustos scored 15 goals in 38 appearances for Argentinian side Club Atletico Talleres, before spending a year on loan with Mexican giants Pachuca, where he netted only once in eight games.
