Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has insisted that his side's away goal against Real Madrid could be crucial for their Champions League campaign.
Danny Welbeck netted the opener for United before former player Cristiano Ronaldo earned the La Liga champions a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Giggs believes that the goal in Spain could be a huge step towards advancing to the quarter-finals of the competition.
"There's plenty of positives," Giggs told Sky Sports News. "It's obviously a good result.
"We scored the goal - which is always important, getting that away goal - and we defended really well, so we're relatively happy.
"The team that we picked, we had goals in us, and that's what we tried to do, score goals and create chances."
The second leg takes place at Old Trafford on March 5.
