Gary Neville insists that comments that he made about Cristiano Ronaldo bullying Manchester United have been twisted by the media.

Gary Neville has moved to clear up recent comments that he made about Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Manchester United's Champions League tie against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

When asked about the former United winger and current Madrid player, Neville described the Portuguese attacker as a "bully".

"Ronaldo is a bully. He bullies the weakest defender. He does it all the time," he told reporters. "He did it to Manchester City against Maicon. He will play on the left wing. If he can't get on the ball he will play centre-forward, midfield, right wing."

Those words resulted in some media outlets releasing stories claiming that Neville had said that he is expecting Ronaldo to bully United during the upcoming encounter.

However, Neville has insisted that his comments have been twisted.

"All, some are twisting my Cristiano words. Please read them in context and they weren't in relation to Wednesdays game," he wrote on Twitter. "I can see the headlines already being prepared ' Cristiano will bully United'! That's not what I have said! Please beware!"

Neville and Ronaldo played together at Old Trafford for six years up until Ronaldo switched to Madrid in 2009.
