Harry Kane hails "outstanding" Marcus Rashford

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane believes that Manchester United's Marcus Rashford deserves his place in England's provisional squad for Euro 2016.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has said that Marcus Rashford deserves his place in England's provisional Euro 2016 squad.

The 18-year-old was something of a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson's 26-man squad for the tournament having made his first-team debut for Manchester United less than three months ago.

However, his eight goals in 17 games since then have been enough to convince Hodgson to take a gamble on the youngster, and Kane is looking forward to seeing him in action.

"He's been outstanding. Full credit to him, he deserves his place. He's young, he's come in and shown no fear of playing on the big stage and he's just expressed himself. He's not been fazed by playing in the Premier League and hopefully he can take that onto the international stage," Kane told reporters.

"We are looking forward to meeting him when he reports next week, seeing his ability. He's shown - the back end of the season - that he can score goals and he's a real talent. If you're playing for England, you're going to have threats for your position.

"We're all fighting for our position - no one is secure or a definite starter so we go from now up to the Euros trying to cement our place. I will keep working hard and I'm sure he will as well so we'll see how it goes."

Hodgson will cut three players from his 26-man squad when he selects his final roster for this summer's tournament in France.
