Marcus Rashford, Andros Townsend in England's provisional Euro 2016 squad

Marcus Rashford, Andros Townsend and Jack Wilshere are named in England's provisional Euro 2016 squad.

England manager Roy Hodgson has selected Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford and Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend in his 26-man provisional squad for Euro 2016.

Rashford only made his senior debut in the Premier League in February, but has scored seven goals since then, and has been handed a spot in the Three Lions squad for tournament preparations.

Townsend has also been included as part of the 11-man midfield pack, while Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, who did not complete a full 90 minutes throughout the entire season due to a broken leg, has been selected.

Manchester City's Fabian Delph has earned a spot in the squad, alongside Leicester City's title-winning midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who made his senior debut for England in March.

A handful of senior figures, including Michael Carrick and Leighton Baines, have been left out of the setup, while Theo Walcott has also been snubbed after struggling to hold down a regular place in Arsenal's team this season.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka has been omitted as Hodgson has opted for three centre-halves in Chris Smalling, John Stones and Gary Cahill.

With regards to attacking threat, Hodgson has selected five forwards - Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Vardy and Rashford.

The squad will be trimmed to 23 players before the start of the tournament, with a striker and two midfielders expected to be dropped.
