Paul Scholes tips Manchester United for Europa League success

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes tips the Red Devils to win the Europa League this season.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has backed the Red Devils to go all the way in the Europa League this season.

Jose Mourinho's side booked their spot in the last-32 stage of the competition with a 2-0 win over Zorya Luhansk on Thursday night and will learn their fate in the draw on Monday afternoon.

Man United have been installed as the bookmakers' favourite to land the trophy this season, and Scholes has said that his former club will not be fearing any team in the competition.

"I wouldn't be worried by any of those teams to be honest with you. I think United have got a really good squad, they're starting to play some really good football and rightly so they're favourites to win this competition, I can see them going all the way," Scholes told BT Sport.

"There isn't one team in there that worries me. I still think with the squad that Manchester United have got, whatever team they put out I think they'll be capable of beating anybody.

"The big importance is on where they are in the league. I'm expecting them to be really challenging for that third and fourth spot. Will their focus then go off this competition? I don't know because you have to say they have found it difficult going from a Thursday to Sunday."

Manchester United are currently down in sixth position in the Premier League table ahead of Sunday's home game against Tottenham Hotspur.
