Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho accuses Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola of playing mind games over the fitness of David Silva.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has appeared to accuse his Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola of playing mind games ahead of their huge derby match at Old Trafford this weekend.

The Portuguese coach's comments came after the Spaniard suggested that David Silva might not play in the derby due to an unspecified "little problem".

Mourinho was taken by surprise last weekend when Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ruled striker Alexandre Lacazette out of their meeting at the Emirates, only to then field him in the starting lineup of the game, which United won 3-1.

Asked for his own team news ahead of this weekend, Mourinho told reporters: "When we have a problem, we have a problem.

"When players are injured, they are injured. I tell you the truth. The truth is Eric Bailly has no chance for the weekend, Phil Jones a chance, [Marouane] Fellaini a chance, Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] a big chance and [Nemanja] Matic is injured but will play for sure. [Michael] Carrick, no chance.

"No stories of Lacazette or David Silva. All the truth. Our opponents have all these issues. They have a big issue but, in the end, everybody is ready to play. They have phenomenal organisations. We are a bit more humble."

United go into the game on Sunday trailing unbeaten leaders City by eight points.
