Michael Carrick says that new Manchester United manager David Moyes is more hands-on in training than former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has insisted that new manager David Moyes takes a different approach to training sessions than that of former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The players are getting used to their new leader, who took the reins at Old Trafford following Ferguson's decision to retire after 26 years in charge.

"The manager is enthusiastic and energetic and intense with his work, and that's rubbed off on everyone," Sky Sports News quotes Carrick as saying. "Training has been good and there is a huge focus and a good feel around the place.

"He's a lot different to Sir Alex in that sense - he tended to take a step back and let the coaches deal with it, whereas David Moyes tends to be right in the thick of it which is good. It creates an intensity and everyone has responded to that."

Moyes, who is currently in Australia with his side on a pre-season tour, lost his first game in charge 1-0 by a Singha All Star XI in Bangkok.
