Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: 'I was not mocking Manchester United by celebrating'

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insists that he was not "mocking" Manchester United in his touchline celebrations during Sunday's 4-0 victory.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he was not "mocking" Manchester United by celebrating on the touchline after his side scored their fourth goal in Sunday's clash.

The West London outfit earned a 4-0 triumph over their fierce rivals at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante.

Conte is known for his passion on the touchline, and he appeared to irritate Jose Mourinho with his celebrations and attempt to encourage the home fans to chant louder than their rivals.

After the final whistle, Mourinho was seen speaking in Conte's ear, and according to reports in the Italian media, the Portuguese coach said: "You don't celebrate like that at 4-0, you can do it at 1-0, otherwise it's humiliating for us."

When asked about the exchange, Mourinho told reporters: "I speak to Conte, I don't speak to you. It was me and Antonio and stays with me and him. Unless he wants to share."

Conte was also tight-lipped, but he later told Sky Italia: "I've been a player too and I know how to behave.

"I always show great respect for everyone, including Manchester United. There was no incident, it was just a normal thing to do. I wasn't mocking anyone, I wouldn't do that."

Chelsea are now fourth in the Premier League table, while United are seventh.
