David de Gea: 'I've matured during my time at Manchester United'

David de Gea insists that he has matured "as a person and a player" since signing for Manchester United in 2011.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has insisted that he feels his game has matured since moving to Old Trafford.

The Spaniard, who has had his critics since arriving in the North-West from Atletico Madrid in 2011, was previously forced to share his role with Anders Lindegaard.

In recent months, the 22-year-old has emerged as manager Sir Alex Ferguson's number one pick following a number of impressive performances between the posts.

"I've changed a lot in Manchester," Goal.com quotes De Gea as saying. "I've spent two years in their football culture and it makes you change. I'm more mature as a person and a player. I'm a very different person from when I arrived in England."

De Gea has kept seven clean sheets in his last 14 Premier League starts.
