The FA will reportedly look into Liverpool Under-21s' 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Langtree Park in St Helens after striker Adam Morgan was abused by a fan.
The supporter ran onto the pitch to aim the verbal assault at the Reds striker, before he was eventually removed by stewards following a scuffle, according to The Telegraph.
There were also two instances of flares being set off in the stands, with one landing on the pitch, as well as reports of distasteful chanting from both sets of fans.
The FA will write to both clubs to gather further information, although Merseyside Police have said that they have not had any complaints.
