Glen Johnson: 'Rivals suffering from managerial changes'

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson believes that his side could have an edge over many of their rivals having not changed their manager in the summer.

Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson has claimed that his side could have the edge on their rivals this season as they didn't change their manager in the summer.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Everton all appointed new managers before the start of the new Premier League season, while Tottenham Hotspur have undergone a change in management during the campaign.

Johnson believes that those bosses may take a season to settle into their new surroundings, and is hopeful that his side can reap the benefits of the transitional periods at many of their rivals.

"Usually when clubs get a new manager the first season is not what everyone wants. Usually it comes out more in the second seasons," Johnson told PA.

"It is a transition period for a lot of teams so maybe we have the extra year on a few and the way things are going at the moment if we can keep taking things week by week I think we can be dangerous."

Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League table but just two points separate the top five.
