Phil Jones: 'Blackburn Rovers won't be easy'

Manchester United's Phil Jones expects a tough test against former club Blackburn at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Manchester United's Phil Jones is expecting a tough match against his former club Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford on New Year's Eve.

The 19-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Ewood Park over the summer for around £16.5m.

Despite sitting bottom of the Premier League table, Jones believes that Rovers will avoid relegation.

"We won't find it easy," Jones told United Review.

"I know what sort of squad Blackburn have and there are some cracking players there. We can't take them lightly.

"Unfortunately they are at the bottom of the table now. But they are a lot better than their league position shows."

The England international is likely to return for Saturday's match after he missed Boxing Day's 5-0 win against Wigan Athletic through illness.
