Manchester United's Phil Jones: 'We've adapted to life under Louis van Gaal'

Manchester United defender Phil Jones claims that he and his teammates are in sync with the style of Louis van Gaal after a year of working together.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has claimed that he and his teammates have adapted to the system of Louis van Gaal after a year under the Dutchman.

The Red Devils struggled in the early stages of the 64-year-old's reign, making several defensive errors as he played with a three-man backline.

However, Van Gaal changed his formation to suit the style of his players, and Jones believes that the team and the Dutchman are now in sync regarding the club's strategy on the pitch.

"He knows his team, he knows his players well, the players know him well. We've got a good understanding and a good relationship with him. That's great for the team and the fans as well," Jones told Sky Sports News.

"It's always going to take time, it's never going to be easy with a new manager coming in and wanting to get his stamp on the team. But he's done that and we're all pulling in the right direction and hoping to maintain this form.

"He knows exactly what he wants. He's very vocal in the dressing room, and he's honest, and as players you can't ask for much more. We respond well to him and vice versa."

United are top of the Premier League ahead of their clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
