Nemanja Matic: 'Manchester United fine without Paul Pogba'

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is confident that his side have enough strength in depth to continue performing well without Paul Pogba in the squad.

Nemanja Matic has suggested that Manchester United will not miss midfield teammate Paul Pogba during his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The France international has been ruled out indefinitely with a hamstring injury picked up last month, which boss Jose Mourinho expects will keep him absent for the "long term".

United have won five successive games without Pogba in their ranks, though, scoring four goals in four of those, and Matic believes that his side will continue to perform just fine without their key midfield man.

"We know that he will be out for some time," he told reporters. "He's very important for us, he's a great player, but I am sure that he will be ready soon. I am sure that he will recover well and he will be ready for this season to help us and to score many goals.

"Everyone knows that Paul is very important for Manchester United, but we also have great players to play instead of him. We showed in the last few games that everyone in Manchester is ready to play and everyone can help us."

Pogba scored two and set up two more in his four Premier League games prior to sustaining the injury against Basel on September 12.
