Jose Mourinho: 'Alvaro Morata will be good for Chelsea'

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says that Alvaro Morata - a former target for the Portuguese - will be a "very good" signing for Chelsea.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that he expects Alvaro Morata to make a big impression at Chelsea.

On Wednesday night, the Premier League champions announced that they had agreed a deal with Real Madrid for the 24-year-old, who will now discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.

At one stage, the Spanish international had been expected to move to Old Trafford until Mourinho instead decided to sign Romelu Lukaku, but the Portuguese has acknowledged that he expects the forward to become a "very good" player at Stamford Bridge.

The 54-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I am not interested in what Chelsea Football Club does, really.

"I think it was obvious Chelsea would sign a striker, especially after the situation with the manager and Diego [Costa].

"It was clear that they were going to get a striker, they did it with Alvaro and Alvaro is a very good player for them."

It has been claimed that Chelsea will pay a fee of £58m, which could potentially rise to £70m, for a player who netted 20 times for the La Liga giants last season.
