Nuno Espirito Santo 'totally ignoring' Manchester United rumours

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo brushes off rumours linking him with replacing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has said that he is paying no attention to stories linking him with replacing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

The Portuguese boss has drawn attention from a number of clubs across Europe following his work for the Midlands side and last season reportedly rejected the chance to take over at Everton in the middle of Wolves' Championship-winning campaign.

United's muddled start to the new season has led to speculation that Mourinho's position may be under threat, and last week it was claimed that Nuno, who has the agent Jorge Mendes in common with his compatriot, is on the list of potential targets to move to Old Trafford.

Asked about the speculation, Nuno told Sky Sports News: "You know me. I don't talk about that. It does not make sense. This is not the moment to even think about it. I don't think about it, I totally ignore that, I totally ignore it.

"I go on a daily basis. I know what I have to do tomorrow - to prepare the boys well and prepare the team for a tough game against Burnley [on Sunday]. This is the way I look at the future - I take it day by day."

Wolves have managed five points from their first four games back in the Premier League, including taking a point from champions Manchester City.
