Manchester United's Paul Pogba: 'Manchester City title win like death'

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba says that allowing Manchester City to wrap up the league title under their noses would have been "like death".

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has admitted that he was determined to prevent Manchester City from clinching the Premier League title when the sides met at the Etihad Stadium for the Manchester derby.

The Frenchman, who scored a brace as the Red Devils came from two goals down to win the contest 3-2, said that allowing the Sky Blues to wrap up the title under their noses would have been "like death".

"I didn't want to lose against City, the loss from last season is still in my mind. If they won they are champions, for all the fans it would be like death," Pogba told Sky Sports News. "To lose against City and to see them celebrate, I couldn't let that happen. At half time in the dressing room we said we have nothing to lose, 2-0 let's make it.

"After a second half like this, we have to do that all the time. If we did we would be up there with City, and maybe even in front."

Pogba's second-half brace cancelled out goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan before Chris Smalling netted a dramatic winner for United.
