Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will serve a three-game Premier League ban after accepting an FA charge for violent conduct.
The Germany international was charged by the governing body earlier this week for striking out at West Ham United defender Winston Reid in the goalless draw at Old Trafford.
It had been widely claimed that the 31-year-old would appeal against the decision, but he has now agreed to accept the punishment which will begin with immediate effect.
Schweinsteiger, accused of playing well below his previous high levels since joining United in the summer, will now miss games against Bournemouth, Norwich City and Stoke City.
