Alex Telles sends message to Manchester United fans after coronavirus diagnosis

Manchester United defender Alex Telles reassures the Red Devils faithful that he is "fine" after returning a positive coronavirus test.

Manchester United defender Alex Telles has thanked Red Devils supporters for their messages of support after the 27-year-old tested positive for coronavirus.

The former Porto man was nowhere to be seen in United's 5-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig in the Champions League, and Telles will also miss out on Sunday's crunch match with Arsenal as he continues a period of self-isolation.

However, the full-back took to social media to reassure United fans that he is fine and is looking forward to returning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side once he recovers.

Telles said on Instagram: "Guys, I want to thank you for the messages of affection that I received from the moment that United announced that I have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

"I want to say that I am fine, isolated and soon I will be back with all my strength to help my teammates. Once again, thank you all for your lovely messages!"

After completing a £13.6m switch to Old Trafford on deadline day, Telles made his debut for the Red Devils in their 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain last week.
