Louis van Gaal has said that he "would love" to take over as manager at Manchester United after this summer's World Cup.
The Netherlands coach has been linked to the role since David Moyes's dismissal last month.
Van Gaal told BBC Sport: "I would love the job. I hope that I shall be the one.
"[The media] are thinking I'm the man but the most important thing is whether Manchester United are thinking that."
The club has confirmed that it will not be making an appointment until next week.
