Robin van Persie claims that Arsenal plan to "set things straight" against Manchester United.

Robin van Persie has said that Arsenal will look to "set things straight" when Manchester United travel to the Emirates Stadium this weekend.

The Dutch striker, who was part of the side that were beaten 8-2 at Old Trafford earlier this season, insists that the club will be aiming to make amends for their fans when the sides meet for the first time since.

"The last thing I want to do is make excuses," he told The Sun. "That game was played, we cannot erase that from history.

"I am going to be honest. To lose like that, by that scoreline, hurts, really hurts. But that is now history and all of us are really looking forward to this Sunday's match.

"In football you will always get another chance to set things straight again. We want to do this for the team spirit and mainly for our fans. We want to make amends for them."

Van Persie has scored 18 goals – his 2010-11 total – in 21 appearances this season so far.
