Nemanja Vidic says that the Manchester United players are "excited" to begin work with new manager David Moyes.

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has insisted that he and his teammates will "help" new manager David Moyes keep the success of the club going.

The Scotsman, who gave his first press conference as United boss today, will have the task of following Sir Alex Ferguson, who accumulated 38 trophies during his 26-year career.

"When the gaffer decided to retire, I was surprised," Vidic said during the press conference. "The players had respect for the manager at Everton and we are looking forward to working with him. The players are training well and they are excited about working with him.

"[The] players are going to increase their work. David has worked in the Premier League and he knows the players but the players still have something to prove to him. You're playing for Manchester United and there is always pressure on the players and we have to work hard and help the manager achieve what he wants."

Meanwhile, Moyes has also insisted that striker Wayne Rooney will stay at the club.
