Manchester United's next manager will not be appointed as a "quick fix", according to reports.
It was announced earlier on Wednesday that Sir Alex Ferguson would leave the club at the end of the season after announcing his retirement, leading to speculation about his replacement at Old Trafford.
Several names have been linked with the vacant role, with Everton boss David Moyes reported to be the leading candidate, and his commitment to the Merseyside club over a long period of time could increase his chances of being named as Ferguson's replacement.
According to Sky Sports News, United are not targeting a manager who is deemed as a "quick fix", with the Premier League champions preferring someone who will remain at the club in the "long run".
An Old Trafford source told Sky Sports News: "Moyes respects the history and heritage of the club, and he believes in youth development.
"He is cut from the same cloth as both Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby."
The 50-year-old has managed Everton since 2002, but his contract at the club expires at the end of the season.
