Arsenal 'secure extension in Danny Welbeck deal'

Arsenal successfully apply for an extension in their efforts to sign Danny Welbeck from Manchester United.

Arsenal have reportedly secured an extension in the bid to sign Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck.

The Gunners are expected to complete the deal by tomorrow morning and officially unveil the striker as their final capture of the transfer window, Sky Sports News reports.

Several other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland, were understood to be interested in a move for the England international, but Arsenal appear to have beaten them to his signature.

Welbeck has scored 29 goals in 139 appearances for United.
