Edinson Cavani 'turned down Real Madrid, Juventus for Manchester United'

A report claims that Manchester United saw off competition from Real Madrid and Juventus to sign free agent Edinson Cavani.

Edinson Cavani reportedly chose a deadline-day move to Manchester United after rejecting approaches from Real Madrid and Juventus.

The Uruguay international brought an end to speculation over his future on Monday by penning a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

Cavani was one of the hottest free agents on the market after leaving Paris Saint-Germain upon the expiration of his contract at the end of last season.

ESPN claims that the 33-year-old also held talks with Madrid and Juve, with the latter prepared to offer him a two-year deal on a lucrative €8m (£7.3m) salary.

However, Cavani made the decision to pen terms with United, where he will now get the chance to play in the Premier League for the first time.

PSG's record all-time scorer has been handed the number seven shirt by United and has begun training at the club's Carrington training base.
