Unsettled Cristiano Ronaldo is desperate to force a move away from Manchester United at the end of the campaign, according to a report.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly desperate to force a move away from Manchester United this summer, less than one year after re-joining the 20-time English champions.

The 37-year-old returned to Old Trafford in the latter stages of last summer's transfer window and has made 30 appearances for the Red Devils this term, scoring 15 times in the process.

Man United are facing the possibility of missing out on Champions League football for next season, though, which has allegedly led to the Portugal international considering his future.

Ronaldo has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2023, but according to The Sun, the forward has met with his agent Jorge Mendes to discuss an exit in the upcoming market.

The report claims that Mendes unsuccessfully attempted to 'calm the player down' amid reports that the veteran was informed that he had lost his starting role against Manchester City on Sunday.

Man United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick said that a hip problem had ruled Ronaldo out of the Manchester derby, but there have been suggestions that the issue only became apparent after the attacker had been told that he would be a substitute against the Citizens.

Ronaldo decided to fly to Portugal rather than meet up with his teammates on Saturday, but he has since returned to the club's Carrington training complex.

The Portuguese is not yet back in full training, though, so he remains a doubt for Saturday's key Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
