Anthony Elanga says that he was "ready" to leave Manchester United on loan over the summer in search of regular action.

Anthony Elanga has revealed that he was "ready" to leave Manchester United on loan over the summer.

The 19-year-old was linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the recent transfer window, but head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer allegedly blocked an exit.

Elanga was involved in Man United's preparations for the 2021-22 campaign, while he has already found the back of the net for the Red Devils, scoring against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season.

The Sweden Under-21s international has said that he was open to leaving on loan but is now prepared to battle for a first-team spot with the 20-time English champions.

"I was ready if they wanted to loan me", Fotbollskanalen quotes Elanga as saying. "As a young player you have to be ready, but I'm happy to be where I am at United now and I want to show them what I can do. I'm always ready if the coach calls me. I show what I can do in training and if I get the opportunity, I take it."

Elanga, who was thought to be of interest to a number of Championship clubs, has not been in the squad for any of Man United's three Premier League matches this term.
