Adriano Galliani plays down Marouane Fellaini reports

Despite reports to the contrary, chief executive Adriano Galliani says that AC Milan did not try to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini on loan.

AC Milan's chief executive Adriano Galliani has dismissed the suggestion that his club had a loan approach turned by Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini.

A recent report claimed that the Italian outfit were eager to sign the Belgium international on a temporary six-month deal.

However, the speculation added that the Red Devils had rejected Milan's proposal because it required them to still pay some of the 28-year-old's wages.

Yet, when asked about the rumour by journalists, Galliani insisted that there is no room for Fellaini within the current squad at San Siro.

"We have seven central midfielders and if nobody leaves then we can't bring anyone else in," said the official.

"Fellaini is an interesting player and I've always liked him, but it's impossible in the current situation."

Fellaini arrived at Old Trafford from Everton in September 2013 for £27.5m.
