Manchester United captain Harry Maguire urges the Red Devils to move for Brighton & Hove Albion's Ben White, according to a report.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has allegedly urged the Red Devils to move for Brighton & Hove Albion's Ben White during this summer's transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are widely expected to sign a new central defender in the upcoming market, and a recent report claimed that White is a firm target for the club.

According to journalist Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfer Window podcast, Maguire has told Solskjaer that he wants to play alongside an English-speaking centre-back next term.

Castles claims that the club captain has recommended White as a potential signing, with the 23-year-old impressing for Brighton this term after spending the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Leeds United.

Sevilla's Jules Kounde and Villarreal's Pau Torres have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford, but Raphael Varane now appears set to sign a new contract at Real Madrid.

White, who is also thought to be admired by Chelsea and Liverpool, is believed to be valued by the Seagulls in the region of £50m.
