Manchester United have considered a move for Norwich City's 22-year-old right-back Max Aarons this summer, according to a report.
Aarons and Norwich suffered an immediate return to the Championship in the 2021-22 campaign, having had their relegation from the Premier League confirmed with four games to spare.
As a result, Canaries boss Dean Smith looks set for a refresh of his squad this summer, and it has been previously reported that they could be prepared to cash in on Aarons in the coming months.
The Englishman has been heavily linked with a move away from Carrow Road in previous years, with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich said to have made moves last summer.
However, according to Football League World, Aarons could make the switch to Old Trafford ahead of the 2022-23 season, with Erik ten Hag's side said to be interested in a potential swap deal involving Ethan Laird.
The report suggests that Laird could be sent on loan to Norwich as part of the deal, which would involve Aarons moving to the Red Devils on a permanent transfer.
Laird spent the first half of last season on loan with Swansea City, where he made 21 appearances, before United terminated that deal in January and sent him to Bournemouth instead, where he was restricted to just six games for the Cherries.
Ten Hag looks set to target a new right-back this summer, with it being reported recently that the Dutchman is prepared to allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
