Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the progress of Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra after sending scouts to watch the youngster in action.

Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Valencia youngster Javi Guerra.

The Red Devils strengthened their squad in a number of areas during the summer transfer window, including in the middle of the park.

They signed England international Mason Mount from Premier League rivals Chelsea, while Sofyan Amrabat arrived on loan from Fiorentina on the final day of the window.

Despite adding to Ten Hag's midfield options, Man United are on the lookout for further reinforcements, especially due to the uncertainty surrounding Scott McTominay's future.

The Man United academy product was linked with a move away in the summer, and it remains to be seen whether his long-term future remains at Old Trafford.

According to Marca, Man United are keeping tabs on the progress of Guerra after sending scouts to watch him in action.

The report also claims that fellow Premier League Newcastle United are also showing an interest in the Spain Under-21 international.

After rising through Valencia's academy ranks, Guerra broke into the first team in the final two months of the 2022-23 season.

Guerra, who scored his first goal for the club in a win over Real Valladolid, made 10 league appearances in the closing stages of the season to help Ruben Baraja's side avoid relegation.

The youngster has continued to be a regular fixture in the Valencia side this term, scoring three goals and providing one assist in six La Liga matches.

Guerra is comfortable operating as an 'eight' or a 'six', and has impressed with his ability to supply goals from midfield.

After signing a new deal in May, Guerra now has a contract with Valencia until the summer of 2027, which includes a €100m (£87.75m) release clause.

While Baraja will be keen to retain Guerra's services, Valencia could be persuaded to entertain offers due to their need to raise funds to improve their financial situation.
