Manchester United are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, who is leaning towards staying at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic this summer.

The 23-year-old has recently emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag looking to bolster his options in the final third before the September 1 deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, United made contact with Chelsea last Wednesday regarding a possible loan deal for the USA international.

However, the report adds that Pulisic is reassessing his situation at Stamford Bridge and is now leaning towards staying at the club for the 2022-23 campaign.

It is thought that Pulisic is happy to fight for his place under Thomas Tuchel and would only contemplate a summer exit from Chelsea if he were to join a club competing in the Champions League.

Pulisic, who has also been linked with Juventus, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Newcastle United, has featured in each of Chelsea's opening three Premier League fixtures of the new season, but is yet to be handed a start.

The American is not the only Chelsea player to have been linked with a move away from Chelsea, with the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Trevoh Chalobah and Callum Hudson-Odoi also facing uncertain futures at the club.

Nevertheless, Tuchel recently revealed to the press that he does not expect any first-team players to depart the club in the short term.

"Yes, I know there is a lot of talk. First of all, we will not comment on our players, and we will not encourage our players to go out at the moment," the German boss told reporters on Friday.

"We had two training sessions with 18 players. In a schedule where we play once a week, it is not a problem. If I look a little higher at the schedule, that is coming with Southampton in the week and two Champions League fixtures. It is coming.

"We will need a lot of players and a lot of quality players to be competitive. So, at the moment, like I say, we have what we have, we know what we are looking for, and from there we go. Only from there can we think about letting players go."

With Pulisic seemingly set to remain in West London, Man United have stepped up their interest in Ajax attacker Antony and PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo.

Ten Hag is believed to be keen to reunite with Antony at Old Trafford and the Red Devils are allegedly preparing to table an improved bid for the 22-year-old, after seeing an offer in the region of €80m (£67.9m) rejected last week.

Meanwhile, a recent report claims that United have reached an agreement with Gakpo over personal terms, but they are yet to make a formal bid for the 23-year-old, who is valued between £30m and £40m.

Ten Hag's side are also on the verge of signing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, who could potentially be unveiled to the Old Trafford faithful before their Premier League showdown with rivals Liverpool on Monday night.
