Manchester United to give Jose Mourinho £300m to spend on transfers?

Manchester United will reportedly hand over £300m to Jose Mourinho to spend on transfers.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to give Jose Mourinho £300m to spend on transfers when the Portuguese coach is appointed as the club's new manager.

It has been widely reported that Mourinho, who has been out of work since getting sacked by Chelsea in December, is on the verge of dislodging current United manager Louis van Gaal.

It is believed that United will announce the arrival of Mourinho in the next two weeks, and now attention has turned to his potential spending power.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League giants will hand over £300m to Mourinho, who could consider moves for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani and Raphael Varane.

During Van Gaal's two-year spell at Old Trafford, he has spent around £250m on players, but the team are yet qualify for next season's Champions League with just four games left to play.

United, who will take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final next month, are currently fifth in the table, five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
