Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho "not confident" of further signings

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says that he is no longer focused on the transfer window as he does not expect any further signings to be made.

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he does not expect any new players to arrive at Manchester United on transfer deadline day.

The Red Devils have brought in Brazilian midfielder Fred, young full-back Diogo Dalot and back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant since the end of last season at a cost of £75.5m.

Mourinho has repeatedly made clear that he wants executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to bring in at least one more player, though, particularly in the heart of defence where he feels that he is light.

Despite being tipped to get a deal over the line for one of Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng or Yerry Mina, though, the Portuguese is "not confident" of his wish being fulfilled.

"I'm not confident and the market closes today," he said at his pre-match presser ahead of Friday's opening Premier League match against Leicester City.

"So it's time - at least for me - to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed, so I will have to focus on the players I have in relation to this first couple of matches.

"Maybe it's three matches because, after Spurs, there is an international break. It gives us a couple of weeks to recover people and to prepare people better and to focus on the players that are available.

"So I'm not even thinking about that list of injured players – [Nemanja] Matic, [Antonio] Valencia and so on. I focus just on what we have and we go with everything we have to the first match."

Pressed if anything will happen on the final day of the transfer window, Mourinho replied: "The information I have is no."

Mourinho could be without a number of star men for Friday's home clash with Leicester.
