Manchester United reportedly view Lyon's Moussa Dembele as a potential replacement for Edinson Cavani, with the latter set to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer.
Cavani's contract with the Red Devils will expire at the end of June, and the Uruguay international is allegedly keen to seek pastures new ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
A recent report claimed that Man United had identified Dembele as a summer target, with the 25-year-old enjoying a strong campaign for Lyon.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-time English champions have made 'initial enquiries' for the Frenchman, who has netted nine times in 22 appearances for his Ligue 1 club this term.
The report, though, claims that Dembele is viewed as a squad player for the Red Devils rather than a regular starter, with the forward potentially taking Cavani's spot in the squad.
The former Fulham youngster has scored 54 goals and registered 16 assists in 130 appearances for Lyon since joining the French club from Celtic in August 2018.
Dembele's current deal is due to expire in June 2023, and there have been claims that he could be available for a fee in the region of £25m during this summer's transfer window.
