Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has been left frustrated by the club's refusal to back him in the January market, according to a report.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has reportedly been left frustrated by the club's refusal to back him with new signings during the January transfer window.

Rangnick will lead the team for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign before taking on a consultancy role at Old Trafford, where he is expected to have a say on incomings.

However, according to The Mirror, the German has been told that there will be no new arrivals during the January window despite making a number of recommendations.

The report claims that the 63-year-old has been in contact with RB Leipzig to discuss a deal for Amadou Haidara, but Man United are not planning an offer for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Rangnick is also believed to have identified a new right-back as a priority, with Brighton & Hove Albion's Tariq Lamptey thought to be a target for the 20-time English champions.

Saturday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, which saw Man United throw away a two-goal lead in the second half, has left the club in seventh spot in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
