Report: Miranda to leave Atletico Madrid

A report claims that Brazilian defender Miranda will be allowed to leave Atletico Madrid this summer.

Brazilian centre-back Miranda will reportedly be allowed to leave Atletico Madrid for a cut-price fee this summer.

During the 2013-14 campaign, Miranda, alongside Diego Godin, formed what was regarded by many as one of the best centre-back partnerships in European football.

However, injuries have harmed the defender this season and it is understood that the emergence of Jose Gimenez has made Miranda surplus to requirements.

According to AS, Atletico will also recall Toby Alderweireld from his loan spell at Southampton, further pushing Miranda down the pecking order.

Manchester United and Manchester City have both previously been linked with the 30-year-old, whose current Atletico deal expires next summer.
