Morgan Schneiderlin: 'David de Gea is fully committed to Manchester United'

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin insists that goalkeeper David de Gea is "fully committed" to the club.

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has insisted that goalkeeper David de Gea is "fully committed" to the club, despite constantly being linked to Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old was on the verge of joining the Spanish giants last summer, but the transfer fell through at the last minute when the paperwork was not filed by the deadline.

Last week, Madrid and their local rivals Atletico Madrid were issued with a ban preventing them from registering new players in the next two transfer windows - this summer and January 2017.

The sanction was brought forward as a result of both clubs breaching rules in relation to signing foreign players under the age of 18, but they are free to buy new players this month, causing speculation that they will move for De Gea.

"David is a very important player in our squad," Schneiderlin told MUTV. "We are very happy to have him and happy that he didn't go last summer. He is fully committed to this football club.

"When you have a player like this in goal, it's good for us because we know we are not going to concede many goals and he is going to make some saves."

De Gea signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford on September.
