Erik ten Hag's power at Manchester United in terms of transfers will reportedly be reduced once Sir Jim Ratcliffe arrives.

Erik ten Hag's transfer power at Manchester United will reportedly be reduced once Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 25% purchase of the Red Devils has been confirmed.

The British billionaire is set to pay around £1.4bn to buy 25% of the club, with an announcement regarding the deal expected to take place before the end of 2023.

The owner and founder of INEOS is set to take control of all sporting decisions at the club moving forward, which has led to claims that Richard Arnold could be removed from his role as CEO.

According to inews, Ten Hag's position as manager is not under threat despite the team's poor start to the campaign, which has seen them lose five of their opening 10 Premier League matches.

The 20-time English champions have also won just one of their three games in the group stage of the Champions League, giving them an uphill task to make the round of 16.

As it stands, Ten Hag and the recruitment department must both agree on new signings, and it has recently been claimed that the Dutchman is still expecting to have a major say on incomings under Ratcliffe.

There will allegedly be a change under the British billionaire, though, with Ten Hag's responsibilities when it comes to transfers set to be reduced.

Ratcliffe is said to want to put the role of signing players 'in the hands of experts', which will leave Ten Hag to focus on coaching, as there have been criticisms of the team's style of play this term.

Man United recently beat Brentford, Sheffield United and Copenhagen in three straight matches, but they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the league on Sunday afternoon.

The result left the 20-time English champions down in eighth position in the table, already eight points behind the top four, while they are 11 from leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

Man United will be aiming to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with a win over Newcastle United on Wednesday before heading to Fulham in the league this weekend.

Ten Hag's side will then travel to Copenhagen for a key Champions League fixture before hosting Luton Town in the league ahead of the November international break.

A recent report claimed that Ratcliffe is keen for Man United to be active in January, although it remains to be seen whether any substantial funds are available due to the financial restrictions in place.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani had been seen as the favourite to complete a full takeover of Man United before the Qatari banker dropped his interest due to his frustration at the position of the Glazer family.
