Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reportedly identified Alex Song as a potential transfer option, should the club miss out on Arturo Vidal.
It has been reported that Chile international Vidal is one of Van Gaal's major targets this summer, but the club are believed to harbour concerns over a recent knee injury suffered by the midfielder.
The Premier League side remain confident that they can reach a deal to sign the 27-year-old from Juventus, but should the move fall through, Van Gaal has drawn up a list of alternatives including Barcelona's Song, according to The Express.
Song joined Barca from Arsenal in 2012, but he has struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup at the Camp Nou since his arrival.
