David de Gea reportedly wants a £30m pay off to leave Manchester United this summer or else he will bide his time and join a club as a free agent in 12 months' time.

Manchester United reportedly face the prospect of having to pay goalkeeper David de Gea £30m to leave the club this summer.

The 28-year-old is said to be unhappy at Old Trafford but is willing to wait another 12 months before departing as a free agent.

That would give De Gea a pick of clubs to choose from and will boost his wages as no transfer fee will be involved.

According to The Sun, United are keen to avoid that scenario as they feel they can still generate around £75m for the Spain international, with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus both interested.

However, it is claimed that De Gea wants a slice of that sum as part of a golden handshake to persuade him to budge.

De Gea, who can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign team from January, has been at United for the past eight years.
