Robin van Persie admits to "difficult situation"

Robin van Persie hints that he will consider his future at Manchester United if he is not going to be a regular starter next season.

Robin van Persie has conceded that he is in a "difficult situation" at Manchester United.

When fellow Dutchman Louis van Gaal was appointed manager at Old Trafford 12 months ago, there were suggestions that Van Persie would be his main striker.

However, injuries, coupled with competition for a starting berth from Wayne Rooney, Radamel Falcao and youngster James Wilson, limited the 31-year-old to just 29 appearances in all competitions last term.

It has resulted in speculation surrounding a potential exit for the former Arsenal forward, who has admitted that he is eager to play on a regular basis over the coming seasons.

"It's a strange, difficult situation. A new situation, that's a better word. I have to think, in a realistic way. It's my ambition to play the next years," he told reporters while on international duty with the Netherlands.

Van Persie has scored a total of 57 goals from his 105 United outings.
