Marseille president urges fans to act 'responsibly' after crowd trouble

Marseille president Vincent Labrune says that the fans must be "responsible" after the club was hit with a partial stadium closure for crowd trouble.

Marseille president Vincent Labrune has said that the club's fans must take responsibility for their actions after recent crowd trouble.

The club have been hit with a partial stadium closure by a Ligue 1 disciplinary committee after fans halted their 1-1 draw with Lyon by 20 minutes by throwing objects onto the pitch.

Labrune has responded to the ban by warning the fans that 'things must change'.

"I take note of the decision of the disciplinary committee," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "This is a strong message sent to the club.

"It is now up to us to be responsible and to show in the short and long term our ability to improve security in the stadium.

"The Velodrome must remain a place of celebration. We will meet with supporters on Monday and we will ensure that things change."

Marseille's game against Angers will be affected by the ban.
