Steve Mandanda has claimed that it is head coach Marcelo Bielsa who deserves to receive the plaudits for Marseille's impressive start to the season.

Bielsa's side are currently four points clear at the top of Ligue 1, and Mandanda believes that the Argentine's methods are the reason that Marseille are genuine title contenders.

"The real explanation is the coach," the French goalkeeper told reporters. "The coach has brought us that. He came in with new methods, a new attitude. We took a little while to take on board his methods, but we're happy with it today and it's working well.

"Things can go off the rails quickly though. We have to keep the same desire, the aim of keeping to what we're asked to do, and the determination to do well and want to win."

Marseille will hope to continue their fine form when they host Toulouse on Sunday afternoon.
