Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has expressed his delight at signing Andre Bikey.
The 27-year-old moved to the Riverside Stadium on a free transfer earlier this week, signing a one-year contract with the Teesside club.
"Andre is a player I have liked for a long time," said Mowbray. "He is a different type of centre-half to what we have got.
"He is a very powerful defender who has real physicality and he also has good technical ability.
"Andre hasn't played a great deal of football in the last year but when he gets up to speed our supporters will see the qualities he possesses."
Bikey was released by Burnley at the end of last season, having made 70 league appearances for the Clarets in three years at Turf Moor.
