Report: Montpellier in talks with Yoann Gourcuff

Montpellier are reportedly in advanced negotiations with former Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.

Gourcuff is a free agent after leaving Lyon this summer and has already had offers from both Bordeaux and Rennes, according to beIN Sports.

The French international has been linked with top clubs in England in the past but a number of injuries and a drop in form have hampered him in recent times.

The midfielder managed three goals and three assists in 17 appearances last season for Lyon but has failed to play more than 20 league games since the 2010-11 campaign.

The 29-year-old will meet Montpellier president Louis Nicollin next week to begin talks.
